Overall in the IPL, this century was Virat’s ninth hundred as he went past MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma for most matches (279) in the league. Since the 2023 edition of IPL, his unbeaten ton on yesterday was also his first century. Virat also became the first Indian batter to score 14000 runs in T20 cricket.
From the 60 balls Virat faced, he hit 11 fours and three sixes, and was never not worried in a tall run-chase as RCB replied with 194/4 in 19.1 overs to 192/4 of KKR.
When Rovman Powell timed his jump perfectly at extra cover to catch a lofted drive from Kohli off Tyagi, KKR would feel they were tad unlucky, but the ball burst through his hands, providing Virat Kohli a lifeline which becomes too costly.
